I found in my few years of motherhood that I can only be my best self when I am in a good place mentally, physically, and emotionally. I am a better mother, wife, daughter, and friend when I take time for me, but it is HARD. What works for you? For me, it varies each day, but I try to start my day in this way: coffee, read scripture/current book (even if five minutes before the boys get up), walk 1-2 miles (while listening to a podcast or music) or 20-30 minute workout, shower and get dressed early, and a plan for the day in writing (with my “TO DO” list).
